Intro to Database

By Bruk

Welcome to All Dathings. In 2026, data is no longer just 'stored'—it is the lifeblood of Artificial Intelligence and global commerce. Every time you like a post, buy a product, or prompt an AI, a database is doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes. This course is designed to take you under the hood of that technology. We aren't just learning to write code; we are learning to build the digital foundations that allow modern applications to scale, remain secure, and provide lightning-fast insights. What is Data? (The Core Definition) At its simplest, data is a collection of basic values, facts, or observations. Raw vs. Processed: It often exists as "raw" information—like numbers, text, or images—that lacks meaning on its own. The Transformation: Data becomes Information when you give it context (e.g., the number "102" is data; knowing it is a student's room number makes it information). Forms of Data: Structured: Organized in clear formats like rows and columns (e.g., spreadsheets). Unstructured: Complex forms like emails, videos, or social media posts. Semi-Structured: Uses tags to help organization, such as JSON or XML files.
